A little thank you goes along way.

So the time has come where tired little people get to spend six weeks relaxing. After spending a whole year building relationships and learning new skills and just growing up. And it’s at this time of year we all just like to say thank you to the other main adult in our children’s life besides us. Yes thats it. It’s the teachers. The ones that will effect our children’s lives now, no matter how small the action.

I even now remember them special teachers that I had growing up. So we all agreed on mug of love. I had made these before for previous teachers but I had just used acrylic yarns and not put much towards it. Budget was a factor too. Also my little ones were a bit smaller and them times before it was more a thank you from me for the child care and not so much from the children.

But this year was different, they were awear and wanted to say thank you from them. So this year we really went for it and said a big thank you.

So we dyed our own wool. ” Just like mummy”. Just for our mug hugs. We then went to choose our mugs for our teachers.

buttons were hand made from the magpies eye. She has a Facebook page. She makes fantastic resin buttons she can even make clocks and all sorts of items. Check out her Facebook page. The magpie eye

These are all the little added extras I had placed in. I made some cloth make up remover pads. A bag charm or magnet and tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

The bag charms and magnets were from

tilly and muffin too.

Then for the finishing touch cello wrap to wrap up the mug which had these wonderful butterflies on them. These really were a joy to make and the huge smiles from the kids and teachers. What a amazing way to say thank you.

Now to get ready for the six weeks of fun and adventure. Wishing you all a fantastic summer. See you all on the other side

Take care

All the best

Hooks and dye.

Little crochet heart.

I was asked to design something small for a class for people to give their loved ones on valentine’s Day. Or even for them self.

This is what I came up with.

These are made with hand painted merino wool and for the stuffing, I used sheep’s wool. But you can use standard filling. Even if you have a old cushion that you no longer use that filling will work just as well. The loop at the top can be used to turn it in to a key chain or make many in a range of different colours, and make a garland to dress a special area.

If you would like to make your own I will have the pattern for sale soon on my Etsy shop. But a made to order option is available where I can make one for you in a selection of colours.  The pattern is now also available on my Etsy shop.

Also you can purchase these ready made in spark haverfordwest Pembrokeshire. Why not follow the shop on Facebook.

Wishing you all a wonderful valentine’s

Remember valentine’s is not only about loving others, it’s also about loving yourself

The little green sheddio.

So everyone is saying now, we need more fibre in our diets. Right. Even though I do agree with this, being a lady who likes to create things, I took that meaning slightly differently and purchased some fibre but in a different kind. I embarked on a monthly box from the little green sheddio. Created by the talented Tracey, working away in her little shead in a quiet town Ystradgynlais.

I’m currently on my second monthly fibre club and just purchased my 3rd eagerly awaiting what surprises are going to fall to my door step soon. These are a few pictures of the things I have created so far.DSC_0085

I was so excited with my first fibre box that I didn’t even get round to taking any pictures of the process just the final make, I spun up all the fibre and made this wonderful shawl. This is a picture of it drying on the line after having a nice warm soak to set the stiches.

Second monthly box I was able to contain my self a little better and managed to gather some more photos of the fibre box and its contents.

Just wonderful lushness in a box! A large range of different fibres.

So I went on to work with the rolag’s first. Picture below shows what formation I spun the rolag’s in. The blend was, blue faced leister, polworth, mulberry silk and banana fibre.

Then the big spin is the middle picture then 3rd picture is after taken off bobbin and caked ready to ply. I wanted to ply it back on its self.

This is the wool plied and on the bobbin.

Finished. Looks just like the sea.

And to the right is a finished picture after the twist has been set.

The completed measurements are.

length 102.6 meters, 112.2 yards.

WPI. 20 = sock,  3 ply.

weight 53g.

I can highly recommend one of the little green sheddios monthly boxes. There are loads of different options and weights on offer. You can treat your self to a one off or sign up monthly.
